Breaking Barriers in STEM: Workshop Package
This workshop package supports educators to deliver interactive STEM career awareness sessions for high school students, with a focus on engaging and inspiring girls. It includes a facilitation guide and companion materials featuring the real-life story of Win Nandar Thet, a Myanmar-born engineer.
The guide provides step-by-step instructions for a 90–120-minute workshop combining storytelling, problem-solving, and reflection. It outlines learning objectives, activity steps, suggested responses, and tips for managing discussions and Q&A, using a gender-transformative approach to challenge stereotypes and support inclusive learning.
Materials include Win’s journey narrative, five STEM problem cards (clean water, renewable energy, healthcare, digital connectivity, and environmental protection), and My STEM Journey reflection worksheets.
Developed for ASEAN-UK SAGE in Myanmar, the package can be adapted for other ASEAN contexts by tailoring examples and guidance to local priorities.
