This lexical computing training manual is designed to support curriculum and materials developers working with the online corpora for their language of instruction in schools. The modules demonstrate how to use the online Sketch Engine to generate wordlists, word sketches, good dictionary examples and concordance from the corpus. It also shows users how to analyse their own texts for the occurrence of high-frequency words.

For best results, users should use this training manual in conjunction with a subscription to Sketch Engine. However, the videos in the manual give first-time users a good overview of what lexical computing tools and skills curriculum developers need to develop their own language corpus and high-frequency word lists to support children’s first language literacy and second language acquisition.
