Teacher Training Course for Skills Training for Economic Participation (STEP)

By: UN Women / British Council
Share:

This handbook strengthens teachers’ capacity to use participatory, learner-centred approaches that build learners’ confidence, practical skills, and readiness for economic participation.

While developed to prepare teachers to deliver the STEP course, most sessions are generic and relevant across multiple subject areas. They can be delivered as part of a full training course or adapted for one-off Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions, making the resource flexible for a wide range of teacher development contexts.

The resource promotes active learning through discussion, group work, and reflection, and integrates a gender-transformative approach to support inclusive and equitable classrooms. It provides practical tools, examples, and strategies to support improved teaching practice and ongoing professional reflection.
