Skills Training for Economic Participation (STEP) Teachers Guide

By: UN Women / British Council
Share:

This Teachers’ Guide supports educators delivering the Skills Training for Economic Participation (STEP) programme to young people. It provides structured guidance to plan, prepare, and facilitate participatory, learner-centred entrepreneurship training that builds confidence, practical skills, and an inclusive mindset.

The guide includes lesson procedures, learning outcomes, facilitation tips, and practical strategies for managing interactive classroom activities. It promotes collaborative learning where students actively engage, share experiences, and learn from one another.

A strong gender-transformative approach is embedded throughout, supporting teachers to address barriers faced by female learners, promote equal participation, challenge stereotypes, and create safe, respectful learning spaces. Developed for ASEAN-UK SAGE in Timor-Leste, it can be adapted for other contexts by modifying examples, activities, and delivery approaches to suit local cultures and education systems.
