This teacher survey is part of a classroom observation package. It was designed for the ASEAN-UK SAGE programme as part of an impact study to evaluate the proof-of-concept project, which trialled a Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in two provinces in Cambodia, for children in grades 4 and 5 at risk of dropping out.

It consists of codebooks and lesson observation records for Khmer language and mathematics, a teacher survey, and lesson videos. It was supported by a training programme.

The teacher survey contains 21 questions divided into 3 main components: (1) Background, (2) Teaching background, and (3) Khmer language / Mathematics teaching. It is administered to Grade teachers who were also observed.

The package can be adapted and applied in low- and middle-income countries and be used by local observers (regardless of their teaching or observation experience), to consistently and reliably make observations.
