During a Regional Workshop for Information and Publications Officers in August 1992, it was agreed that the SEAMEO Quarterly be reformatted and renamed into two publications, i.e. a biannual SEAMEO Forum and a monthly SEAMEO Update.

It was superseded by the SEAMEO Horizon in 1998. The last issue of the Update was Volume 5 No. 5&6 (double issue).

This issue marks the start of several changes for the Update. The first change involves the treatment of stories from the Centres, which are classified under the following headings: trainings; visits; conferences; workshops; symposia; appointments; alumni news; calendar of events; and notices. We intend to make this a regular feature from this issue onwards. The second change involves the Update's frequency, which until now, was on a monthly basis. For future issues however, the Update will come to you every two months (bi-monthly).
