During a Regional Workshop for Information and Publications Officers in August 1992, it was agreed that the SEAMEO Quarterly be reformatted and renamed into two publications, i.e. a biannual SEAMEO Forum and a monthly SEAMEO Update.

The SEAMEO Forum was approved at the 28th SEAMEO Council Conference 1993. The SEAMEO Secretariat published the SEAMEO Forum from 1994 - 1997, volume 1 to volume 5.

The publication contains in-depth, descriptive and analytical articles on relevant researches, academic/scholarly articles and reports of development projects in disciplines which are important to the Organization.
